Only Israel is Tier 1

In a recent speech Nobel Peace Prize Winner Nadia Murad praised the nation of Israel  for enduring centuries of persecution in their native land to rise from the ashes and build a great country.  As a Yazidi, she identifies with Israel's ongoing struggle.  For over 5,000 years the Yazidi community has endured 74 campaigns of genocide.  Most of these massacres were committed by perpetrators motivated extremist interpretations of Islam, the most recent of which was at the hands of ISIS.

As ISIS militants stormed through the Mt. Sinjar region.   Nadia lost six of her brothers to ISIS death squads and personal endured months of hell as a sex slave.  After escaping from ISIS captivity, it was through IsraAID that she was evacuated to safety in Greece.  During her visit Murad personal thanked the country for their help in saving her.  Unfortunately, Murad's case is not a unique one.  Throughout the world, untold millions fall victim to sex trafficking.

It is estimated that every year, over 11 million people fall victim to sex trafficking throughout the world.  Of this number, 96% of the victims are women.  To help combat this epidemic, the United States passed that Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA).  The U.S. Department of State has a special ranking system that has three tiers of measurement for countries to measure their commitment in combating the world-wide sex trafficking epidemic.  Tier 1 countries are in compliance with the minimum standards.  Tier 2 nations are not in compliance with the minimum standards, but are working hard to meet the requirements.  Tier 2 Watch List Nations are not in compliance with the minimum standards, and despite efforts trafficking is either very significant, it is increasing, or there is no clear proof that they are making new efforts to improve on their current measures.  Tier 3 nations do not comply with the minimum standards and make no efforts to do so.

Of all the Nations in the Near East, only Israel ranks as Tier One.  Many of the other nations are either Tier 2 Watch List, or Tier 3.  The case is similar in Sub-Saharan Africa where a majority of nations also fall into the Tier 2 Watch List or Tier 3 category.  A clear pattern seems to emerge.  Nations that abide by Western Judeo-Christian Principles are the nations were human trafficking is most strongly fought against, and nations where Sharia Law dominate or where there is strong effort to implement Sharia illustrates a poor commitment to fighting the ongoing Human Trafficking epidemic that plagues our world.
