The Hidden Christians of Saudi Arabia

In the country of Saudi Arabia, Freedom of Religion does not exist.  It is forbidden to build non-Islamic houses of worship and to even bring in non-Islamic religious material.  This came as a direct command from Muhammad himself when he stated in Sahih Muslim Book 32 Hadith 75: "I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim."

Despite this, many in Saudi Arabia are trying to seek to learn about other faiths, to learn what their government forbids, and some are beginning to take an interest in Christianity, but some are paying the ultimate price to do this. Such was the case for Sara Fatima al-Mutairi.  Having discovered the Gospel online, 26-year-old Fatima became a believer in Christ and under the alias "Rania" began to spread the Gospel online to other Saudis.  Unfortunately, her parents and brother found out, and as the punishment for Apostasy from Islam is death (Bukhari 84:57), they gave her the chance to repent and turn back to Islam, or they'd kill her.  She refused, and they killed her.

Fatima is not alone.  A young Saudi man by the name of Al Fadi also chose to follow Christ.  His parents soon disowned him, and his brother vowed to kill him.  The sad truth is that Jesus warned us that this would happened.  Matthew 10:34-38 states the following: "Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the Earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.  For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.  A man's enemies will be the members of his out household.  Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me.  Anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.  Anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me."

There is no clearer case of this than that of Fatima and Al Fadi.  Pray for Saudi Arabia, that the light of the Gospel will shine as bright as the Sun in the land where the rulers do everything in their power to silence it.
