The Christchurch Mosque Massacre
I, like many, am greatly saddened by the senseless massacre of innocent people at the Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Islamic Center in Christchurch, New Zealand. Unfortunately, I cannot say that I am surprised that this terrible shooting happened. Over the years, I have watched many human rights activists predicting that a massacre like this was inevitable, not simply because of the presence of White Nationalists who have been guilty of carrying out the murder of innocents for decades, but because the Politically Correct Media, Politicians, and Leftist Activists have worked to silence any and all peaceful criticism of the ever present danger Islamic Jihad. In reality, those who push for this are doing exactly what the hate activists want, whether they be the Jihadist haters, the Far Left haters, or the Far Right haters. Before we consider this phenomena, let us look at the motives of the shooter.
The New York Daily News stated that passing strong gun laws and condemning attacks like this is not enough. We need to learn about the ideology that drives it and learn how to effectively counter it. I fully agree, so I spent some time reading the Killers manifesto. The Killer is Australian Native Brenton Tarrant, a self-confessed White Nationalist. Before he carried out this horrific attack, he left behind a manifesto explaining what he decided to carry out mass murder. In his manifesto, he explained at the beginning that he was fearful of the "high birth rates" of those of the Middle East. As as self-confessed "ethno-nationalist" & "eco-facist" he believed that the Muslims belong in their lands, and the Whites in theirs. However, when they crossed into the "White territory" they had officially become an enemy, and even worse were what he called the "traitors," and by this me means the native Europeans who converted to Islam and officially adapted the ways of the "enemy" or stand by and take a passive stance to their aggression. Specified individuals that he targets as the greatest of these enemies is German Chancellor Angela Merkel, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and Turkish President Recep Erdogan. He also spews venom toward "NGO Organizaitons," claiming that they're disguising their political motivations by claiming they only desire to provide aid and assistance to those in need.
Tarrant continued in his manifesto to state that he hopes that his actions will help lead to a "race war" that will prevent the "Balkanization" of the United States which would destroy the "melting pot dream." He claimed that when he traveled through France, he saw these supposed "invaders" everywhere, and the attacks in Sweden on April 07, 2017 was the final straw. He saw this attack as an attack on his race, his culture, and everything he believed in. It was at this point, he felt he had to the fight to what he saw as the "invaders" until they are driven back to the other side of the "Bosporus." (a body of water separating the Middle East from Mainland Europe). In his manifesto, he claims to have acted alone, but admitted that he has voiced support of other "nationalist organizations" that support his hateful views. He also justified the killing of children, stating that they do not stay children and will eventually be a threat. This line of thinking has continually been used by genocidal perpetrators throughout the course of history to justify the killing of children.
As his manifesto continues, he further justifies his action against what he called "unarmed invaders" because they were an even bigger threat than armed ones. Tarrent stated that a soldier knows how to fight an armed, uniformed enemy, but those who come in unarmed and under the radar are even more dangerous because nobody knows how to fight them. Nevertheless, he still states that these people are the enemy, and must be dealt with as such. Hhe then repeatedly explains how his actions are a "justified response" to the ongoing terror attacks, sexual assaults, and murders of Europeans that he lays upon the hands of the "Middle East invaders."
What we must also consider is that he confessed in his manifesto that he had been planning an attack for nearly two years and had scouted out this particular location for three months. This reveals to us that he was not simply a crazy who suddenly picked up a gun and attack. He scouted, planned, and wanted the world to see what he was doing and know what he was doing it. This man was not crazy. He even admitted that he purposely chose firearms to carry out the attack because he knew that that doing so would sew more discord within our politics. He wants to "stir the pot" and help make civil discord impossible and push the societies to open war. He admits that his views developed over time, and mainly came through the internet, claiming that you cannot hear the truth anywhere else anymore.
His political and religious views seem to be a bit more murky. Tarrant does not identify as a Christian (stating at the end he is heading for Valhalla), admits disdain for conservatism and capitalism, claiming that the principles of conservatism is dead, and he's glad they are. He seems to support some tenants of socialism, but rejects others. He admits to being a former communist and anarchist before becoming an "ethno-fascist" and now wants the Antifa Communists "under his boot." While admitting he likes President Donald Trump as a symbol of "white identity and common purpose" he despises him as a policy maker and leader. In what one can only call astonishing, he identifies himself with Nelson Mandela, whom he claims was a terrorist imprisoned for his beliefs, but later became a famed figure of martyrdom. He expects to one day be honored in the same way Mandela was.
Tarrant's justification for his attack can best be summarized his assertion made throughout his manifest that all hope for a peaceful political solution has passed and that armed action was the only option left. He states that there is nowhere on earth that you can find a "reprieve" from this threat and that the only option left is to stand and fight. He believes that the West has degraded into a culture of nihilism and that radicalization of the "European Male" against the "Invaders" is the only choice left.
Now the reason that I felt that somebody like Tarrant committing an atrocity like this was inevitable is that I have watched peaceful critics of Islamic Jihad, both Muslim and non-Muslim alike, warn for years that if the establishment leaders and media continued to make efforts to censor peaceful criticism and dialogue, armed attacks would become inevitable as more an more people would become wooed by this "far right" propaganda and begin committing travesties such as the one committed by Brenton Tarrant.
Famed Jihadist critic David Wood released a video in which he admitted to predicting that an attack like this would unfold due to the increasing censorship of peaceful criticism of Islam and had previously urged people to take action to prevent the censorship of peaceful criticism before tragedies like this unfolded. Many human rights activists, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, have warned that increased censorship of peaceful criticism would only make matters worse for everyone. These peaceful critics follow the path of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the path that teaches to criticize the unjust system and hateful teachings, but to love the people. Other critics have also echoed David Wood's warning, stating that pro-Jihad forces seek to silence any and all criticism, either through passage of laws, or violent reprisal attacks, and that the forces of Jihad in the West who seek to pass laws banning criticism in Western nations will use this massacre as a scapegoat for their cause. The idea that peaceful critics of Jihadist terror are responsible for this massacre is essentially like stating that former President Barack Obama is responsible for the massacre of police officers in Dallas because he criticized police brutality.
Critics of Jihadist terrorism, both Muslim and non-Muslim (Link to Video #1 and #2 of peaceful Jihadist critics), admit that there are verses in the Qur'an and Hadith that inspire Jihadist terrorists attacks, and simply ignoring this will not make the problem go away, and that by trying to silence and smear all peaceful critics, the are in truth playing right into the hands of both the Jihadist terrorists and the Far Right extremists. The Jihadists terrorists are fascists who want all dissent crushed, by any means necessary, much like Hitler did. The Far Right extremists want people to see that peaceful dialogue is fruitless and that picking up weapons and engaging in violent retaliation is the only option left. Unfortunately, many have still failed to realize that they're falling into a dangerous trap. Even now, critics are still being forcibly silenced with Twitter suspending David Wood's account over his "prediction video." He likewise points out an article in the National Post, in which a University in Calgary chose to cancel a talk given by Armin Navabi, and ex-Muslim from Iran, citing sensitivity to the Christchurch massacre.
We must remember that former President Kennedy stated that "Those who make a Peaceful Revolution Impossible will make a Violent Revolution Inevitable." Since 9/11 there have been tens of thousands of Jihadist attacks all over the world, with no end in sight. With politicians and the media being pushed by the Left and Islamist advocacy groups to simply silence all discourse on this, it will not resolve the problem, it will only make it worse. In truth, these organizations are helping to create men like Brenton Tarrant and Jihadist terrorists and force people on throughout our society to "pick a side" and take up arms as they will conclude that peaceful dialogue is fruitless. The media must practice what they preach and learn to understand the ideology of all killers, including the Jihadist killers, before it's too late, for all of us.
