Pakistani Brides Trafficked to China
In Pakistan Christian woman are particularly vulnerable to persecution. They are frequently abducted and forced to convert and marry Muslim men, and the state does nothing to stop it. Even those fortunate enough to avoid this endure dire poverty in a society where they are denied equal employment opportunity due to their faith and gender. As a result, many Christian families feel that they have no choice put to agree to arranged marriages to foreigners, particularly in China, where they hope they will be safe. Muslim families have also been lured into this as many suffer from abject poverty as well and feel that marriage to foreign nationals is a possible way to save their daughters from poverty. Unfortunately, intelligence sources are now revealing that this is turning out to be a massive sex-trafficking scam.
China's decades-long "one child policy" has created a massive gender imbalance between men and women in their society. As a result, many Chinese men are now looking abroad for wives. With increasing Chinese investment in Pakistan, it has led some Chinese to consider Pakistani women as brides. Unfortunately, traffickers are also seeing this as a profitable business venture. Chinese men have come to these vulnerable families, offering to provide their daughters with a good home and conning them into agreeing to these arranged marriages. After taking their new "brides" out of the country, they're then sold into prostitution. There are even some reports that women who are deemed to be "not good enough" for the "sex trade" end up in the deadly "organ harvesting market."
Pakistani and Chinese authorities are now starting to take action, but things must be done immediately. Chinese men must be vetted much more carefully by Pakistani authorities, and this this information must be made public to Pakistani families so they are not tempted to send their daughters off to marry Chinese foreigners.
