The Message of a Persecuted Pakistani Christian Family: "Freedom is not Free!"

In the year 2005, a Christian man named "Roger" married his Muslim coworker "Samantha."  Prior to their marriage, the two were friends and "Samantha" became interested in Jesus.  After studying the Bible, she began to understand God.  She found the Lord's Prayer to be beautiful.  Fearful of her changing views, her Muslim family ordered her to quit her job and to stay away from "Roger" and his family.  She tried to change their hearts, but could not, so she ran away from home, married "Roger," and accepted Christianity.  Samantha's family tried to get her back by claiming that "Roger" kidnapped her, but courts ruled in the couple's favor.  Infuriated by their daughter's actions, her family vowed revenge.  Fearing they would commit an honor killing, "Roger and "Samantha" fled their native city.  "Roger's" family also had to flee as they too began receiving threats on their life.  

Today, they are hiding and living in fear for their lives.  Their children cannot have friends over at their home as they fear it will lead to them being discovered.  Their forced isolation is taking a terrible psychological toll on their youngest child.  Some on the International Level say things will get better with time, but nothing has changed for them.  They have been continually hunted and persecuted for over 12 years.  Today, all they want is to leave Pakistan.  They no longer feel safe in their native country and are willing to relocate to any nation willing to take them in and protect them.  

Their message to the West is this: “Freedom is not free, please help us get asylum.”   Despite their suffering, they strongly believe God is still with them.  It’s a miracle that they have not yet been found.
