Why Osama bin Laden chose to Attack on September 11th

Some have asked "Why did bin Laden attack the World Trade Center in New York City?  Why did he chose that target?  Why did he chose September 11th as the date to attack?"  To answer this question, one must go back to the past, back to the year 1683, the decisive year that marked the near destruction of Central Europe at the hands of Islamist Jihad.

In the year 1683, the armies of the Islamic Ottoman Empire were poised to push into the very heart of Europe.  Centuries of warfare had enabled the Ottoman Empire to conquer and colonize Southern Europe.  They now looked to bring all of Europe under Islam.  Standing in their way was the City of Vienna, the capital of present-day Austria.  If the Ottoman took Vienna, they could push into Central Europe, and possibly take the city of Rome herself.  With a force of over 170,000 men, the Ottoman Empire besieged Vienna on July 14th, 1683.  Knowing the dire threat, the nations of Central Europe rallied under the leadership of Polish King John Sobieski III.  On the date of September 11th, the Turkish forces felt they were on the brink of victory, but at dawn the following day, combined European forces drove the Ottoman Army back from the gates of Vienna, effectively ending the siege. Ironically, the Ottoman Empire suffered their final defeat in of the Great Turkish War once again on the date of September 11th at the Battle of Zenta in the year 1697, effectively ending the Jihadist threat on Central Europe and marking the beginning the the Ottoman Empire's long decline until its eventual collapse at the end of the First World War.

Vienna at this time period was more than a city, it was the capital of the Austrian Empire, a symbol of European civilization, and it was the final defense of Christian Europe against the Islamist armies.  The victory marked the beginning of the end of the Ottoman Empire's threat to take over Europe.  However, the truth is that the war never ended.  The Ottoman Empire may be gone, but the Jihadists want it back and they want it to span the world.  This is why Osama bin Laden chose to attack the World Trade Center, and this is why he chose September 11th to do it.  The World Trade Center was the symbol of Western Success.  A symbol of the Power and Freedom of the United States.  The  triumph of Freedom and Democracy.  The World Trade Center was our Vienna, our symbolic barrier against tyranny and the monument of Western values.  When Osama bin Laden chose to attack it on September 11th, he was attacking the new Vienna.  It was his way of saying "We're Back!!!"

They say history always repeats itself, and it did yet again on 9/11.  However, what many don't realize was that the Ottoman Empire came very close to winning not only because of their immense power, but because of the lack of unity among the people of Free Europe.  This intense distrust and lack of unity nearly led to Europe's demise, and we are seeing this evidenced yet again.  If the Free World does not unite against this threat, the "New Vienna" will fall, and our Freedom will fall with it.  It's time for history to repeat itself again, it's time for Free World to set aside our differences and beat the armies of Jihad back from the "New Vienna" and stand strong for our Freedom!
