The Qur'an affirms Paul & Paul condemns Muhammad
There is no verse in the Qur'an that implies that the previous
scriptures (The Torah, Psalms, & Gospel), have been corrupted. Yet
Muslims say it's corrupted because the Qur'an delivers a completely different
message than that which is given by the Torah and Gospel. So who do they
blame for corruption? Well they can't blame the Disciples of Jesus
because the Qur'an confirms the Disciples, so they decide to blame the Apostle
Paul. In their minds, this can be done because Paul was not one of the
original Disciples of Christ, and he had strong influence over the early church. Yet,
when Muslims attack Paul, they have a problem, because they're attacking both
the Qur'an and classic Muslim scholars.
Surah 61:14-"O
you who have believed, be supporters of Allah, as when Jesus, the son of Mary,
said to the disciples, "Who are my supporters for Allah ?" The
disciples said, "We are supporters of Allah ." And a faction of the
Children of Israel believed and a faction disbelieved. So We supported those
who believed against their enemy, and they became dominant."
Muslim
scholar Yusef Ali stated that these verse refers to Allah
aiding the Christians until they permeated the Roman Empire. Yet these
Christians that permeated the Roman Empire were what Muslims when refer to as
"Pauline Christians," Christians who accepted Paul's message that Jesus
was divine in nature. This means that God gave his stamp of approval on
the message preached by the Apostle Paul. This is further reinforced by
Muslim scholar Abu Abdullah al-Qurtubi who stated in his
commentary about Surah 61:14 that "It was said that
this verse was revealed about the Apostles of Jesus, may peace and blessings be
upon him. Ibn Ishaq stated that of the Apostles and Disciples that send
to preach there were Peter and Paul, who went to Rome. So these
classical scholars are saying that Allah approved Paul's message and that Paul
was sent by Jesus to preach in Rome.
Many Classical
Muslim commentators, unlike the ones today, confirm Paul because they based
their views on the Qur'an, which stated in Surah 3:3-4, 3:55, &
61:14, that Allah sent the Gospel as a guidance to mankind and would
protect its message. So to accuse Paul of corrupting the Gospel
contradicts the Qur'an and insults Allah. Thus Muslims today who accuse
Paul of corrupting the Gospel are not only contradicting the Qur'an, they're
actually making Paul greater than their God, because Allah did not have the
power to stop one man from corrupting his message.
Now it's very
clear that Muhammad delivered statements about Jesus that directly contradicts
the Gospel (which the Qur'an assures us is authentic). So what did Paul
say about those who might deliver a Gospel message that is different from the
one given by him and the Disciples of Christ? The answer is found
in Galatians 1:8-9: “But even if we or an
angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to
you, let them be under God’s curse!" Thus
according to the Apostle Paul, which the Qur'an confirms and the classical
Muslims scholars verify as authentic, Muhammad is under God's
curse.
