Ilhan Omar & "Some People Did Something"
Recently, Congressman Ilhan Omar came under fire for referring to the 9/11 attack as "Some people doing something," and that this prompted a backlash against the Muslim community of America, which forced the organization known as the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR), to form in order to fight for the Civil Rights of Muslims that were under threat after the attack. Many people have taken a strong exception to her statement. The media outlet The New York Post ran a powerful cover showing the horrific attack that claimed the lives of 2,977 innocent people. The strong backlash against Ilhan Omar drew strong criticism from other Democratic Congresswomen like Rashida Tlaib who claim that Omar's critics took her words out of context, that she was speaking the truth, and those who are condemning her are doing so out of racism.
Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez echoed this sentiment, ridiculing Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw for tweeting that Omar's statement was "Unbelievable" and calls on him to donate to the 9/11 victims fund & fight harder against Far Right Domestic Terror if he wants to do something. Now, let us take the a look at each statement made by these three Congresswomen and point out their shortcomings.
#1: Omar's reference to 9/11 was "some people who did something" is completely wrong. It was a terrible tragedy committed in the name of Jihad. Now one may defend her by saying that it was just a poor choice of words, but she quickly described the recent Mosque shooting in New Zealand as a "Tragic, tragic nightmare that happened to Muslims in New Zealand." She did not refer to this atrocity as "some guy who did something." In truth, she is the first member of Congress in either party to refer to this travesty in such a manner.
#2: CAIR did not form in response to the "backlash" against Muslims in the aftermath of the 9/11 attack. It formed in 1994 and it's a front organization for the Muslim Brotherhood (Who's memorandum called for Civilization Jihad against the U.S. & Destroy it from with). CAIR was named by the Justice Department as an un-indicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Trial of 2007-2008, the largest trial against terrorism in the history of our nation. Numerous human rights activist, including Sufi Muslim journalist & human rights activist Stephen Schwartz who stated "CAIR claims to be a Civil Liberties Organization but is actually a Front for Hamas & Exists to Spread Islamic Ideology & continues painting Muslims as being victimized here in the U.S. There is no question that They're a Radical Group." It's also interesting to note that the United Arab Emirates officially lists CAIR as a terrorist organization. It should also be noted that many members of CAIR have been convicted of terrorist crimes.
#3: Rashida Tlaib is lying when she said that Omar's critics pulled her words out of context. Her words were quoted exactly as she said them. It should also be pointed out that many people, including African Americans have criticized Omar for her use of words. Criticizing any person for what they say or how they say it is not racist. The right to criticize people and ideologies, regardless of their skin color, political power, or any other reason is a fundamental human right that is the cornerstone of our Republic.
#4: As usual, Alexandria Oscasio-Cortez doesn't know what she's talking about. Congressman Dan Crenshaw was very Civil in his criticism of Omar's remark, and Cortez's statement that he should do something was nothing but insulting, because Dan Crenshaw has not so much. Congressman Crenshaw served our nation in the Navy Seals in Afghanistan where he earned two Bronze Stars and lost an eye in the service of his country. He's given more than could ever be asked of him. Crotez, like Omar, needs to learn to choose he words carefully and look at that facts before making baseless & hurtful claims.
These three women currently occupy seats of power that most women of the world could only dream of having. Ilhan Omar could never dream of having this kind of power and prestige in her native country of Somalia, yet they are spewing lies, insulting the memory of those lost on 9/11, and even speaking ill of a combat veteran who proudly served our nation. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
