FBI Prevents Terrorist Attack Against Nigerian Christian Church in Pittsburgh

The FBI foiled an attempted bomb plot and arrested a Syrian refugee on Wednesday who allegedly planned to bomb a church in Pittsburgh in the name of ISIS.  Mustafa Mousab Alowemer, a 21-year-old Pittsburgh resident who was born in Daraa, Syria, and came to the U.S. as a refugee in 2016, as part of an effort spearheaded by the Obama Administration to bring in 10,000 Syrian Refugees.  Mustafa met with an undercover FBI agent who posed as an ISIS sympathizer on several occasions between April and June.  Mustafa had pledged an oath of allegiance to the leader of ISIS in a video he recorded of himself and had been in contact with another ISIS supporter who was also was under investigation, prompting the FBI to look into him.

During his meetings with the undercover agent, Mustafa revealed bomb supplies he purchased along with maps of the area, showing how he was plotting to bomb an African American church in the city of Pittsburgh.  Mustafa revealed that this plan was to place a backpack full of explosives beside the church.  The attack was to be carried out in July of 2019.  Mustafa is currently in prison and if convicted, could serve up to 60 years.  This incident should serve as to send a serious message to our national leaders.  Refugees and anyone else attempting to enter our nation from these troubled regions need to be vetted very carefully.  Lack of vetting has cost lives in the past.  Tashfeen Malik, one of the San Bernardino shooters, made numerous posts on her social medial accounts praising Jihad and supporting terrorist attacks while she lived in Pakistan.  However, former President Obama forbade immigration officials to vet their social media profiles, stating this was a violation of their "Civil Rights," (even thought the applicants are not Americans, thus not under U.S. Law).  Had the officials been permitted to do this, Malik's visa would have been rejected and the massacre avoided.  Jihadist terrorists will take advantage of our good intentions and use them to destroy us.  Had this attack succeeded, it not only would have led to serious loss of life, it would have devastated the Nigerian Community, many of whom fled to our nation to escape from Jihad.
