Sharia Denies Equal Rights Even to the Deceased
Under Sharia Law, there is no hope of there ever being equal rights. Those who adhere to non-Islamic faiths or who belong to a minority Islamic sect are always subjected to oppression & persecution. Sadly, not even the deceased are granted equal treatment. In the nation of Iran, the grave of Pastor Soodmand, who was executed by the regime for "apostasy" in 1990, was recently desecrated. Shortly after the Iranian Revolution of 1979, Pastor Soodmand converted from Islam to Christianity and began creating house churches to teach other Iranians about Jesus. His network was eventually infiltrated and Pastor Soodmand was arrested. After enduring months of solitary and torture, he was executed for the crime of "apostasy."

The Iranian regime did everything they could to desecrate his memory. They denied his family the right to give him a proper burial or even a tombstone. Instead, they buried him in an um-marked location known as La'anatabad (Accursed Place) and left nothing but a slab of stone to mark his burial site. In the month of January, 2020, the regime desecrated his grave even more, removing the stone slab and laving nothing but dirt. Unfortunately, such a thing is normal in Iran. Throughout the nation, the graves of Christians, Bah'ais, and political dissidents are repeatedly desecrated and the authorities do nothing to stop it. At times, the Iranian authorities themselves engage in the desecration. Just last month, unknown individuals desecrated a 15th century Armenian Christian cemetery that had been declared to be a national heritage site 18 years ago.
This phenomenon is not unique to Iran, it's a travesty that occurs throughout the Middle East. In the nation of Pakistan, Dr. Muhammad Abdus Salam was the first Muslim & the first Pakistani to win the Nobel Prize in Science. Unfortunately, his grave did not escape desecration because Dr. Salam was of the wrong Islamic sect. Dr. Salam was an Ahmadi Muslim, and under Pakistani Law, Ahmadis are forbidden to identify themselves as being Muslims. This is despite the fact that they accept the divine authority of the Qur'an, accept Muhammad as a prophet, and follow the Five Pillars of Islam as well as the Six Articles of Faith. When Dr. Salam was buried, the Pakistani authorities chipped the word "Muslim" off his gravestone. The graves of other Ahmadi Muslims have been repeatedly desecrated for many years, but the Pakistani Authorities do nothing about it.
Wherever Sharia goes, repression follows. Not even the deceased can escape its oppression.
