Attacks on Christians Continue in Nigeria
Many in the world have been made aware of the ongoing Jihadist attacks on Christians in Nigeria. Incidents such as the abduction of the 276 Chibok Girls in April of 2014 (100 are still missing) and the St. Francis Church Massacre during the Holy Day of Pentecost in June 2022 have been reported by media outlets all over the world. However, there are many massacres and abductions that are not being reported by the mainstream media. One of the most recent attack took place against a Catholic Mass and Baptist Service in Kano Nigeria on Sunday, June 19. The attack claimed the lives of 8 people and an additional 38 were kidnapped by the Jihadist terrorists (Link to Article).
This attack is only one of many to strike the Kano region where terrorists groups such as Boko Haram have been targeting Christians as well as Muslim opponents them for decades. One of the worst attacks in Kano took place in Nov. of 2014 when Boko Haram Terrorists and Suicide bombers attacked the Grand Mosque of Kano, killing 120 people. The attack came due to Kano's leading Muslim cleric Muhammad Sanusi's open defiance of Boko Haram and his urging of Nigerians to take up arms against them (Link to Article). These kinds of insurgent attacks have sadly become the norm in Northern Nigeria, claiming thousands of lives every year, and things show no signs of improving.
