The Assault on Riley Gaines
In a recent speech at San Francisco State University, former NCAA swimmer and 12 time All American Riley Gaines gave a speech explaining that transgender athletes have an unfair advantage competing in women's sports due to the biological differences between men and women. Though the event initially went off without any serious incidents, Riley Gaines was later ambushed by a group of radical protestors who screamed obscenities' and threats. After being physically assaulted twice by a male protestor, Riley was forced to barricade herself inside of a classroom.
However, this ambush would only be one of a number of injustices committed against Riley Gaines. After the incident, Jamillah Moore, the Vice President for the Student Affairs & Enrollment Management sent an email to students praising them for partaking in a peaceful demonstration. This was absolutely absurd. Video footage (Featured Here) clearly shows Riley Gaines being escorted by police while hostile individuals shout at her. Riley further stated "The protestors demanded I pay them if I wanted to make it home safely. I missed my fight home because I was barricaded inside of a classroom. We must have different definitions of peaceful." Despite all of this, Riley has vowed to carry on, stating that this incident only proves that she is doing something right, and that "when they seek to silence you, speak louder."
