FBI Prevents Terrorist Attack Against Nigerian Christian Church in Pittsburgh
The FBI foiled an attempted bomb plot and arrested a Syrian refugee on Wednesday who allegedly planned to bomb a church in Pittsburgh in the name of ISIS. Mustafa Mousab Alowemer, a 21-year-old Pittsburgh resident who was born in Daraa, Syria, and came to the U.S. as a refugee in 2016, as part of an effort spearheaded by the Obama Administration to bring in 10,000 Syrian Refugees. Mustafa met with an undercover FBI agent who posed as an ISIS sympathizer on several occasions between April and June. Mustafa had pledged an oath of allegiance to the leader of ISIS in a video he recorded of himself and had been in contact with another ISIS supporter who was also was under investigation, prompting the FBI to look into him. During his meetings with the undercover agent, Mustafa revealed bomb supplies he purchased along with maps of the area, showing how he was plotting to bomb an African American church in the city of Pittsburgh.
