Khartoum 1967: No Peace, No Recognition, & No Negotiation

After Israel's victory over the Arab Nations in June of 1967, the Arab nations called for a summit in Khartoum in September 1st, 1967.  Representatives from the Arab Nations of Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, and the Sudan met to discuss their policy with Israel.  The decision, was simple & to the point: "No Peace, No Recognition, No Negotiation."  Time and again, Israel offered land back in exchange for lasting peace, and the response has always been the same: No.  It would make no difference if Israel was willing to give back all of the West Bank and Gaza in order to create another Arab State; the war against Israel would continue until Israel no longer existed.  

 When some nations tried later to defy the "Three No's" the responses where brutal.  Anwar Sadat, the Egyptian President who made peace with Israel, was soon assassinated after doing so and Egypt was expelled from the Arab League.  Yaser Arafat himself stated that one of the reasons he rejected Camp David is because he knew he could not stop the conflict even if Israel gave in to all of his demands, because if he did, he would meet the same fate as Anwar Sadat.  This insane hatred of Israel by the Arab leaders continues to this day even though Israel actually improved the quality of life for the Arabs in the territories that they controlled.  For instance, when Israel gave back the Sinai to Egypt, they actually made economic improvements in the region before giving it back.  They built oil wells, along with hotels & resorts along the Red Sea, providing a vibrant economy in the region that had previous been nothing but a military zone.  Israel likewise improved the economy of Golan and repeatedly offered back to Syria in exchange for peace, Syria refused, and vowed that they would wait 100 years if necessary.  When Israel left Gaza to the Arabs, Hamas swiftly took over and turned it into a terrorist base.  
No matter how many overtures of peace are offered, it will not change the stand that the Arab leaders took in Khartoum in 1967.  This link clearly shows Islamic clerics throughout the Middle East stating that they will call on their followers to keep fighting and killing Jews, even if they were to leave all of the land to the Arabs: Link to Hate Video.  It's time that we remember the lessons that we should have learned in the 20th century: When dictators tell you that they will not accept peace and that they want your complete and utter annihilation, you better believe them.

    You speak of the Arabs as though they are all monolithic Israel haters. However, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, and Turkey all have diplomatic relations now with Israel. The real conflict that exists is between the Palestinians and Israel. The Palestinians have created many of their own problems by refusing to compromise with Israel. However, they were promised their own state by the UN in 1947 and it was contemplated that Palestine would be partitioned. I see this conflict as a complicated one.

Jihadists World-Wide Celebrate Massacres in Israel
