How the Obama Administration Crippled the Department of Homeland Security
Philip Haney was a Founding Member of Department of Homeland Security (DHS), joining the organization in 2003. For six years he tracked suspected Jihadist supporters in our nation, people with known ties to terrorist organizations abroad. Mr. Haney tried to live by the motto: "See Something, Say Something.” However, by the year 2009, he was ordered by the DHS Office to purge the records of all Muslims with ties to terrorism. This reflected Obama's drastic change to the "War on Terror." Within months of taking office, Obama ordered that the words "Muslim," "Islam," and "Jihad" be removed from all counter-terrorism manuals. It was demanded that Al-Qaeda now be referred to as an "illegitimate political organization" and over 800 records were purged.
Astonishingly, this order came a little one year after the Holy Land Foundation Trial, the largest terror trial in U.S. history. Philip Haney learned, along with others, that the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) was incorporated in 1994 by three members of the Islamic Association for Palestine, and the IAP supported Hamas. During the Holy Land Foundation Trial, 108 Members of Holy Land Foundation convicted for funneling $12 million to Muslim Brotherhood & Hamas. He also learned that Islamic doctrine demands that 1/8 of all Islamic charity (zakat) go to fund Holy War. Evidence presented at Holy Land Trial revealed plots to destroy our nation from within.
This trial gave irrefutable proof that members of Muslim Brotherhood front organizations here in America were directly involved in raising funds for terrorist organizations overseas, with organizations like CAIR, the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) all linked to these terrorist organizations. Our administration under Obama should have started keeping a sharper eye on individuals who have ties with groups known to support terrorism, but the opposite happened. For the next few years, Philip Haney found himself being pushed out of the Obama administrations that was coddling to members of the Muslim Brotherhood, instead of identifying it as the terrorist organizations that it is. Many of the recent terrorist attacks committed in our country came from individuals who were linked to organizations that Philip Haney warned that DHS and the Obama Administration about, but his warnings fell on deaf ears.
In his book "See Something, Say Nothing" Philip Haney admitted that the Mosque that was attended by the San Bernardino Shooters had been investigated for having ties to the Deobandi movement that has ties to numerous terrorist organizations including Hezbollah, Hamas, & the Taliban. Philip Haney also confessed that this one mosque was in fact part of a network of that exists throughout the country. The San Bernardino killer Tashfeen Malik also had ties to the Red Mosque, a infamous center in Pakistan where Jihadist fighters have been trained for decades.
Other known terrorists such as the infamous John Walker Lindh, the U.S. citizen who joined the Taliban, was linked to Mosques with ties to the Deobani movement. This is proof of the analogy that "Ants always seem to wander aimlessly, but there's always a nest, and if you follow the trail, you find the nest." Phil Haney used this information and created a network identifying global networks that were smuggling Jihadist supporters to the U.S., but the State Department ordered that the network be shut down. Had the DOH been allowed to do its job, Rizwan would have been put on the "No Fly List," and the woman he sought to marry (Tashfeen) never would have been allowed in the country. Instead of "connecting the dots," the Obama administration was ordering the DHS to "remove the dots." Not only were records purged, but investigations on new suspects were eased. The desire of the administration to protect the Civil Rights of "foreign nationals" became more important than protecting the country.
Sadly, this was not isolated cases of the Obama Administration looking the other way. The Mosque that was attended by that Boston Marathon Bombers had been monitored by Law Enforcement four years earlier. It was linked to the Islamic Society of Boston (ISB), which has ties to the Muslim American Society, which is another organization linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, but agents focused on outreach, rather then monitoring radicalization. The ISB is also linked to Hamas and al-Qaeda. In fact, the ISB itself was founded by Abdurahman Alamoudi, a supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah who was sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2004 for sending funds to terrorists. This same Mosque was also attended by Tarek Mehenna, who was sentenced to 17 years for plotting provide aid to Al-Qaeda. This same Mosque is also linked to the North American Islamic Trust, another unindicted co-conspirator of the Holy Land Foundation Trail. Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, the terrorist responsible for the Chattanooga shooting, also attended a Mosque controlled by the NAIT.
Despite the fact that Philip Haney and others provided all of these warnings about the Muslim Brotherhood for nearly 10 years, the Obama Administration not only refused to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a Terrorist Organization, they openly and covertly supported the Brotherhood. The Administration even went as far as suspending Philip Haney and placing him under investigation. They attempted to have Mr. Haney indicted for leaking confidential information to Fox News and Glenn Beck, but the charges were eventually dismissed. The inescapable truth is this, the politically correct approach of the Obama Administration to the War on Terrorism does not mix with defending our nation from terrorist attacks. As Philip Haney says, "Political Leaders need to take the handcuffs off Law Enforcement and Let us do our Jobs."
