Boko Haram Bombs IDP Camp in Cameroon

On August 1st, Boko Haram insurgents attacked an IDP camp in Camroon.  The camp of Nguetechewe, located on the border region of Nigeria & Camroon, housed over 800 people from Nigeria and the surrounding region who have been displaced by the ongoing insurgency of Boko Haram and other Fulani militants.  The ongoing insurgency has displaced over 320,000 people in this region near Nguetechewe, and over three million overall.  On an early Sunday morning, witnesses reported that 20-30 Boko Haram insurgents attacked the camps, looting the shelters and firing at fleeing refugees.  Shortly after the attack began, two suicide bombers detonated their bombs, killing 13 in the initial blast, and five more would later die of their injuries.

Boko Haram has been carrying out terrorist attacks for years.  Though principally operating in Northern Nigeria, the Jihadist group has launched numerous cross border attacks against Chad, Niger, Cameroon, even Burkina Faso.  This year alone has witnessed Cameroon falling victim to 87 recorded attacks by Boko Haram.  They reason why Boko Haram has not limited their attacks to any particular nation is because like ISIS, Boko Haram seeks to establish a strict Islamic Caliphate that is not bound by national borders.  This Caliphate would interpret a strict form of Wahhabi/Salafi Islam that would severely discriminate against all religious minorities as well as any Islamic sect that does not fall in line with their orthodox views.  It would strip away all civil rights for these religious minorities and leave them wide open to Islamist mob violence without any repercussion.  Essentially, we would witness an exact repeat of the Reign of Terror that was ushered in by ISIS on Iraq & Syria.

Jihadists World-Wide Celebrate Massacres in Israel
