Boko Haram Bombs IDP Camp in Cameroon
On August 1st, Boko Haram insurgents attacked an IDP camp in Camroon. The camp of Nguetechewe, located on the border region of Nigeria & Camroon, housed over 800 people from Nigeria and the surrounding region who have been displaced by the ongoing insurgency of Boko Haram and other Fulani militants. The ongoing insurgency has displaced over 320,000 people in this region near Nguetechewe, and over three million overall. On an early Sunday morning, witnesses reported that 20-30 Boko Haram insurgents attacked the camps, looting the shelters and firing at fleeing refugees. Shortly after the attack began, two suicide bombers detonated their bombs, killing 13 in the initial blast, and five more would later die of their injuries. Boko Haram has been carrying out terrorist attacks for years.
